Hello, I have decided to make this page to keep track of the progress of my paint colt which I rescued on August 29, 2006. I'm making this page more for myself than anything because seeing him everyday makes it difficult to see the progress without taking pictures and comparing them side by side to see the dramatic results. However, I'm so happy with his progress I want to share him with you as well.
Here is Rusty's Story
Rusty was born on open range where many horses were kept, or more accurately, "unkept" by a man who allowed them to fend for themselves as best they could. They weren't fed and they received no medical attention. Rusty's mother was severly underweight the entire time she was in foal with him. When he was born, the owner didn't know for days. By the time he was found he was almost dead.
A couple took him in and managed to save his life with the help of a vet tech friend who also happens to be my neighbor. Unfortunately for Rusty, this couple was not financially able to care for him as he should have been cared for. Although this was the case, they kept him for over a year. He was malnourished, full of worms and full of sand when I found my way to him on August 29, 2006. In addition to Rusty, I also brought home his friends. Sierra, a 17-year-old mare and a goat we call goat-goat. I call them the 3 Amigos.
Rusty has had a rough start in life and I'm glad we found him when we did. Any profits I make with my beads and other artwork goes directly to their care and maintenence. So on behalf of Rusty, Sierra and Goat-goat, I thank you all from the bottom of my heart.
Below you will see pictures of Rusty and his amigos from day one onward with periodic progress reports along the way. In the first picture Rusty is almost 2 years old but as you can see, he's very small for his age. He was about 47 inches tall at the withers on day 1. Now, on with the story.......

As you can see, there's a dramatic difference in him after only 12 days of worming, de-sanding and the right food.Home * 1 * 2 * 3 * 4 * 5 * 6 * Created on ... September 13, 2006 |
